Strength training is changing on FizzUp: meet the new Fast targeted workouts

The “Strength” section, part of the workouts outside your program, is becoming “Fast targeted workouts”: new workouts, more choice, a simpler layout and, above all, progression that adapts to you, to what you can do and to how fit you’re feeling.

Here’s everything you need to know.

“Strength” becomes “Fast targeted workouts”

The Strength section at the bottom of your home screen is making way for a new category: Fast targeted workouts, available in the “Explore” tab, which you reach from the magnifying glass at the bottom of the app.

That tab becomes your entry point for all the content on FizzUp:

  • Programs
  • Fast targeted workouts
  • Single workouts

With search and filters, you’ll be able to browse content by what you feel like doing, your goal or your equipment, for example. Don’t worry, though: your workout of the day, the main one, the one from your program, isn’t moving. It stays right on your home page.

Workouts that zero in on the areas you want to strengthen

The new Fast targeted workouts are organized by body area, then by theme. They’re perfect if you want to round out your training for the day, work more precisely on one part of the body, or if you only have a few minutes to spare.

The catalog for this type of workout will be built up over time with new themes and new options.

Short workouts, but built for progress

A Fast targeted workout includes 2 or 3 strength exercises.

New workouts with equipment will soon join the catalog, which for now is mostly doable with no equipment at all. Some workouts call for a pull-up bar, and when they do, it’s stated right in the workout name.

More importantly, these workouts use real progressive strength protocols based on how fit you are right now.

Depending on the workout, you’ll do several rounds of the exercises as a circuit or as sets. And as you keep training, the reps or the duration will evolve to support your progress.

Progression that adapts to you

This is one of the big changes.

You’ll notice there’s no longer a level attached to each workout (level 1, level 2, level 3…). That’s deliberate. Why? Because before, once you finished a level, you lost those exercises and moved on to another level with new ones. Now you can keep working on whichever workout you want, with no time limit, and still benefit from your own progression.

After some workouts, the app now asks you to rate how hard it felt.

That information is used to adapt what comes next: the number of reps, for example, can change depending on how your last workout went. The protocol can also be readjusted if the pace on offer is moving too fast and getting too hard. And if you take a long break, the level is readjusted automatically to account for your time away.

Your progress isn’t always a straight line

Some days you feel great and breeze through the workout. Other days, fatigue or everything else going on can affect what you’re capable of. The progression FizzUp offers takes that into account.

The goal isn’t to follow a preset level. It’s to make progress from your own starting point, based on what you can do and how you’re feeling that day.

Same exercises, but not always the same effort

To support your progress, a workout deliberately keeps the same exercises every time you come back to it.

That lets you get to know the movements, focus on doing them well, and see your progress in concrete terms.

The number of reps or the duration, on the other hand, can change.

So you get familiar exercises, with a protocol that gradually adapts to you.

A much richer strength training catalog

This change brings other improvements too: the current workouts in the Strength section will no longer be offered in their current form.

They’re making way for a much broader catalog of Fast targeted workouts, and new workouts will be added to that library far more regularly.

With or without equipment, across different body areas and around different themes: little by little you’ll have more and more ways to round out your workout of the day however you like.

A new space to explore FizzUp

With the arrival of Fast targeted workouts, the Explore tab becomes a real home for all the content available in the app.

Programs, targeted strength workouts or Single workouts (formerly “Express workouts”): everything is gathered in one place.

And thanks to the filters and the search, you’ll be able to move through the content more easily and find what fits what you need right now.

In short

The new “Fast targeted workouts” section means:

  • Short workouts with 2 or 3 strength exercises.
  • Precise targeting by body area and by theme.
  • Personalized progression based on what you can do and how you feel.
  • Reps and durations that evolve as you progress.
  • Training that adapts to how fit you’re feeling, rather than a fixed level.
  • A much broader catalog, expanded regularly.
  • Access from Explore, alongside programs and Single workouts.
