If you want to stop crashing in the middle of the afternoon, wake up your muscles when you get out of bed so that you’re sure to have an energetic and successful day. How? By stretching when you wake up, which helps you regain awareness of your body and it’s capable of. Here’s the first FizzUp stretching circuit to give your muscles an easy wake-up.
After having been at rest while you were sleeping, your muscles need to gradually start back up when you open your eyes. Don’t hurry your body by getting up and out of bed immediately. Take the time to sit up and slowly get out of bed, one leg after the other. When you get out of bed calmly and slowly, you’re being kind to your body, which is still half-asleep. Little by little, your awareness works to help you feel every part of your body, organs and skeleton. You’re listening to your own body. It clears your mind and syncs it with your body, giving you a feeling of harmony and wellness.
For an easy wake-up during the week, try to get up one and a half to two hours before you should leave. By using this method, you’ll get back into your normal daily activities and be able to do them to the best of your ability.
Once you’re up, you can continue waking up your muscles with stretches that will relax them and make you more flexible. You’ll align your spine and position your back correctly, which will reduce back pain. FizzUp has designed the ideal stretching circuit to give you a boost.
Start with a back stretch: with your knees on the floor, place your buttocks on your heels. Stretch out your back as you place and extend your arms on the floor. Your forehead should touch the floor.
Continue the circuit with a lying pretzel stretch. Lie on your back with your knees bent. Rest your right foot on your left thigh as you try to form a right angle with your right leg. Repeat on the other side.
An upper-back stretch completes the back stretch exercises. On your knees, keep your thighs and chest upright as you raise your arms toward the ceiling.
Next in the circuit, you can do a kneeling forearm stretch: get on all fours with your palms on the floor and your fingers pointing toward your knees. Be sure to keep your back straight.
Finish the circuit with a double knee-to-chest stretch. Lying on your back, bend your knees and bring them toward your stomach. Hug your knees to your chest and make sure to tuck your head between them. Your back should form a curve.
Hold each position for 30 seconds, then take a 15-second break between each one. You’ll feel more active and at the top of your game once you’re back in great physical shape. When you stretch your muscles right, they’ll respond much more efficiently any time you use them throughout the day.
