Whether it’s early in the morning, during your lunch break or after you get home from work, doing your workout on a Monday keeps you feeling great for the rest of the week. You don’t want to ruin the good habit you started on a Monday by not working out for the rest of the week, do you? Motivational workout reminders and messages from the trainer will help you stick with it, too.

Got a lot of sleep to catch up on? Physical activity can help regulate your inner clock, the one that defines your circadian rhythm. If you ever need an extra boost of motivation to keep up your efforts on the mat, Dr. Kelly Glazer Baron from Rush Medical College in the United States had an amazing discovery in her study conducted in 2013: regular exercise helped those who suffer from chronic insomnia sleep 45 minutes more per night. Now that’s another fantastic reason to work out on a Monday!

Hate Mondays? You’re not the only one! Ever wonder how you can fight the Monday blues? Well, we’ve got some good news for you! Exercise is the perfect antidote! Physical activity gets your endorphins flowing. These are the hormones that put you in a happy and upbeat mood. Sticking with your regular workout routine will spare you the sad feeling you get when you have to go to work on Monday mornings. Tackling the start of your week with a heart-pounding workout will turn that frown upside down and benefit your overall wellness over the long term.
Exercise also triggers the secretion of the neurotransmitter called GABA in your brain. This is a chemical messenger that works to reduce and control fear and anxiety. We know that rolling out your exercise mat and tapping “START” on a Monday can take more motivation than usual, but thanks to GABA, don’t forget that exercise can also help you better control your emotions in a variety of situations, such being faced with problems at work or at home, acting on impulse or suffering from behavioral problems.
In a study published in 2013, researchers showed that aerobic exercise (generally speaking, moderate-intensity physical activity) can reduce general anxiety and stress by producing neurotransmitters such as dopamine, serotonin and opioids. On the other hand, anaerobic exercise (high-intensity physical activity) helps those who suffer from anxiety, and students in particular (as seen in a study from 2010), by relieving their mental distress that’s often a warning sign of panic attacks. Starting your week with some exercise promotes positive thinking and puts you in a calmer state of mind to tackle the week ahead.
FizzUp trainer’s tip: Why not start your day with a FizzUp stretching circuit right in bed? It will loosen you up before you start your work day.
Need to ace your presentation at your next meeting? Want to finish your upcoming exam knowing it’s in the bag? Regular exercise could be the key to your success. Ever heard of a protein called BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor)? Simply put, it helps you grow new nerves. Exercise increases its concentration within your body. Several studies have even shown that engaging in high-intensity physical activity just before you need to put your mind to work can improve your memory and comprehension. Starting your workout this Monday is the perfect opportunity to boost your brainpower!
Exercise makes you more self-confident. Use it to feel amazing in your own skin and better appreciate all your body is capable of. As recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO), “Adults aged 18 to 64 should do at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic physical activity throughout the week or do at least 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic physical activity throughout the week. Aerobic activity should be performed in bouts of at least 10 minutes in duration. Muscle-strengthening activities should be done involving major muscle groups on two or more days a week.”
FizzUp’s workouts are a perfect way squeeze in extra physical activity in addition to your other sports to meet these recommendations. It’s easy to see that exercise is one of the greatest ways to change your mindset for the better.
With your Rhythm score, you can clearly see how many workouts you’ve done on time. When you workout regularly (i.e. every other day), you’ll keep your Rhythm circle green, which is bound to lead to satisfying results. We challenge you to do every workout on time for as long as you can to keep your score high, even on Mondays! We designed this feature with your motivation in mind.
