Workout Excuse #5: “I Don’t Have Time to Work Out”

It’s a fact: there are 24 hours in a day and time goes by at the same speed for everyone. But why do some people manage to get everything done in a day while others don’t? Maybe it’s because people tend to make excuses, among them the most famous being, “I don’t have time to work out”. But is this a real excuse or is it just the sign of a lack of motivation or planning?

Figure out which activities are necessary and how time-consuming they are

Being well organized is essential if you want to make the most of the 24 hours you have in a day. Of course, you have to fulfill your everyday obligations, such as your job, studies, kids, cooking and housework, not to mention your social life, which is a must for your personal development. Don’t forget to surf the web and social networks to keep up with the latest lifestyle, health and fitness trends.

The Internet is full of useful information, but sometimes it can make you feel envious. Reading through blogs, websites and various posts, you might feel bombarded by coordinated, muscular and balanced bodies… then suddenly, a question pops into your mind. You wonder why you don’t have a sculpted body like them. But since it’s already 11pm, you end up just taking a shower and going to bed. That’s too bad! If you had carved out a few minutes here and there during your day, you could have saved up enough time to sculpt your abs, get thighs of steel, concrete thighs or prominent pecs.

With a fast and convenient workout, 20 minutes is all you need to take better care of your body. Use these 20 minutes to do a FizzUp workout, which will help you to take back control of your body by mixing strength training, cardio, abs and stretching exercises. Now you can make an effort to stop wasting time. Say goodbye to “not having enough time” so that “I don’t have time to work out!” becomes an excuse of the past.

Identify and categorize your priorities

The easiest way to “save up” 20 minutes in a day is to stop doing time-consuming activities. The minutes you save here and there will allow you to work a time slot into your schedule that’s long enough for an effective workout. But how do you do that when you don’t have time to work out?

“Spend less time watching TV and surf the web more efficiently”

Tip #1: Add blogs to your favorites. This helps you get easy access to the websites you like reading most as you relax so that you don’t get caught up in the jungle of the web.
Tip #2: Read the news online or in the newspaper instead of watching it on TV at 8pm. You won’t have hassle of having to wait for the news to come on and can have the option of getting your news whenever you want.

Action plan

This advice is always good to take, but still, the hardest part is putting it into practice and making it work with your schedule.

Step 1: Figure what’s doable by analyzing your day

List all your daily activities and figure out how long they take. Make a table with two columns (activity/duration) by identifying all your daily activities from the time you wake up to the time you go to bed, including meals, commutes and work. This will help you take a step back and measure how much time each activity takes.

Step 2: Once you write this list, go back to the table and ask yourself the right questions

Does your lunch break have to last an hour and a half? Wouldn’t biking to work or mixing walking and public transport be faster ways to get to work?

Step 3: Add a column to the table by indicating the time you could save per activity

Step 4: Add up the minutes that you would save

Use this table to add up the minutes that you would save during your day. You would save 35 minutes in one morning by following the example above. You can stop using a lack of time as one of your best excuses and use these minutes for a FizzUp workout in the morning starting tomorrow. That’s sure to get you off on the right foot for an energetic and successful day.

Conlusion

Sometimes it’s good to take a step back when your day goes by at 100 miles an hour. Taking the time to ask yourself some questions will help you identify trivial activities and prioritize the ones that are really worth your time. If you plan out your days by setting a definite schedule ahead of time, you’ll always have 20 minutes to do your FizzUp workout whenever you want, three times a week. Don’t have time to work out? That’s no excuse!

Little by little, your workout will become one of your priorities and a part of your routine. The lack of time to take care of your health will turn into an excuse of the past.

What about you? What are your tricks to always saving time during your day?
